Kesar Mango, affectionately known as the “Gir Kesar” due to its origin, is a medium-sized, round to oval-shaped fruit characterized by its greenish-yellow skin with a reddish blush and a distinct pointed tip. Renowned for its incredibly sweet, fragrant, and saffron-colored pulp, it offers a unique flavor reminiscent of saffron, hence its name (“Kesar” means saffron). This popular summer fruit, scientifically Mangifera indica, is enjoyed fresh, used extensively in traditional Indian and Bangladeshi desserts like aamras, and incorporated into chutneys and preserves, prized for its aromatic and sweet profile.
