Banarasi or Lengra mango, locally known as ল্যাংড়া, is a highly cherished variety across Bangladesh and parts of India, especially during the peak summer season. Its slightly flattened, oval shape and greenish skin remain unchanged even when fully ripe, making it easy to distinguish. The flesh inside is golden, juicy, and almost completely fiberless, offering a bold, tangy-sweet flavor that lingers pleasantly on the palate. This mango belongs to the species Mangifera indica and is celebrated for its strong aroma and naturally smooth texture, making it a favorite for eating fresh. In Bengali households, it’s often sliced and served as a dessert or enjoyed simply on its own, chilled or with a sprinkle of salt and chili.
