Description
Long beans, also referred to as lobia or deshi seem in Bangladesh, are long, slender pods belonging to the Vigna unguiculata species. Known for their slightly sweet flavor and crisp texture, these beans are a staple in both rural and urban kitchens, particularly during the monsoon and autumn months. They are often stir-fried with potatoes, cooked in light curries, or added to mixed vegetable dishes. Their ability to absorb spices makes them a favorite in Bengali cooking. Aside from their culinary versatility, long beans are also a good source of fiber, protein, and vitamins, contributing to a well-balanced diet.
